March 4th marked Hungry for Music’s 30th anniversary of providing the gift of music to underserved individuals and communities.
Realizing the healing and inspirational power of music in my own life, I began the non-profit entity of Hungry for Music with the goal of supporting music education programs for youth.
In our history, which was a part-time endeavor for the first dozen years, Hungry for Music has distributed over 22,000 instruments to hundreds of programs in all 50 states and 34 countries supporting school and after-school, as well as social workers who have clients who can benefit from music therapy.
I remember selling my old Honda Civic to pay for the initial start-up costs. It has truly been an organic grassroots build, taking baby steps all the way. There were many times along the path when I felt like giving up, but something always happened that kept me going.
I am extremely thankful for those friends and supporters who believed in me, and the Hungry for Music mission, that have kept our outreach alive.
Now, it’s already time for our first fundraising appeal of 2024, our annual Spring Cleaning Appeal. Clean out those closets, garages, attics, storage units, and look under your bed for music instruments to support Hungry for Music’s program.
If you don’t have an instrument to donate, please consider a monetary donation to help us cover the costs of repairs and distribution. Another way to help is to spread the word of our mission to others.
I am excited about the continued growth of our outreach and look forward to another year of spreading the gift of music to individuals and communities in need.
Thank you for your continued support.
May you always find comfort in music,
Jeff Campbell
