Hungry for Music Notes
Fall 2024

As you will see reading through this newsletter, Hungry for Music has a lot to be thankful for this year! I am grateful that the number of instruments distributed continues to increase annually. We have already surpassed our total from last year and we still have a little more than a month to go.
Our outreach would not be possible without the support we receive from our staff, board, volunteers, and repair folks. It definitely takes a team effort and we have a super one!
Hungry for Music also could not perform our outreach without the financial backing we receive from individual donors, foundations, and service project fundraisers. The D’Addario Foundation provides a huge service by giving us all the strings and drum heads we need.
I believe that Hungry for Music provides a very important service for youth who want to be involved in music. The gift of music that we provide is an extension of love to the recipient. Our mission is to continue to spread it as far and wide as we can.
During this giving season, Hungry for Music would appreciate your support. Help us spread the love of music! Thank you!
May you always find comfort in music,
Jeff Campbell

HFM Awarded $40,000 Grant

We are very pleased to announce that Hungry for Music has received a $40,000 grant from the Ilsababy Foundation. It is the largest foundation grant that we have received in our 30-year history. We are excited and motivated to use the funds to continue to grow our outreach.
Ilsababy Foundation is a private nonprofit located in Sullivans Island, SC. Supported by Bradford G Dake and Darla J Oathout, they awarded 46 grants last year. "Ilsa" is their German Shepard dog.
We are extremely grateful to the Ilsababy Foundation for this wonderful opportunity. Thank you so much!

The testimonials below say it all. It’s why we do what we do. Receiving feedback and photos from recipients is always appreciated and fuel for our mission.

“When AJ expressed his dream of playing the Euphonium, there was just one challenge: we didn’t have one! But thanks to his dedicated music teacher, Ms. Alli, and the amazing nonprofit Hungry for Music, AJ’s dream has become a reality! Yesterday, AJ unboxed his very own Euphonium during orchestra class, and is ready to get started!
Huge thanks to Hungry for Music for helping us support AJ and make dreams come true! “

“Gabby and Arthur received their saxophones. Dr. Perry, their parents, and I all celebrated both of these students' love for music, hard work, collaboration, and kindness. What a wonderful moment. Thank you for providing such a wonderful musical gift that will last a lifetime. We are honored and very grateful!"
With love and gratitude,

“Here's a photo of the two boys your organization assisted. Thank you again - it is such a relief to finally have instruments in their hands! They've been smiling ear to ear and their parents/guardians were so thankful. Your organization has changed their lives!"

The Feel Good Tour stopped by the Hungry for Music Distribution Center last week and picked up over 400 musical instruments to deliver in areas of North Carolina that were affected by Hurricane Helene.
The Feel Good Tour began their music instrument donation project in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. They also have an annual Christmas instrument giveaway in their home base of Roanoke that Hungry for Music has supported for several years.
Pictured are Hungry for Music staff and The Feel Good team after loading up a 20-foot trailer with instruments. |

Key to a Successful Instrument Drive |
|
|
We are grateful to the Spirit of Harmony Foundation for including us in the ceremony of Todd Rundgren receiving the key to the Village of Woodstock. The instrument drive was a huge success, collecting nearly a hundred instruments that will benefit young musicians. We also made several music instrument donations to New York area school programs to honor this special occasion.
We are also grateful to the Bearsville Center for everything they did to make this happen. It was an awesome event!
